JUNE 26, 2012 — TWENTH-SIXTH MEETING OF THE WOODBURY COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

The Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.  Board members present were Monson, Tripp, Boykin, and Smith; Clausen was absent.  Staff members present were Karen James, Board Administrative Coordinator,  Joshua Widman, Assistant County Attorney, and Patrick F. Gill, Auditor/Clerk to the Board. 
      
The Claims were approved as presented.  Copy filed.

The meeting was called to order.

Motion by Tripp second by Boykin to approve the minutes of the 06/19/2012 Board meeting.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Monson second by Boykin to approve the appointment of Brandy Menard, Case Manager, Social Services Dept., effective 06-27-12, $17.76/hour.  Job Vacancy posted 05-09-12.  Entry Level Salary:  $17.76/hour.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Monson to approve the De-Authorization of Gang Prevention Specialist, Juvenile Detention Dept.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Monson second by Tripp to allow Woodbury County personal day usage to be used in hourly increments.  Carried 4-0.

Motion by Boykin second by Tripp to approve and authorize the Chairperson to sign a Resolution approving petition for suspension of taxes through the redemption process for Edmund Cote II, 1501 S. Royce St., Sioux City, parcel #884706226009.  Carried 4-0.

RESOLUTION APPROVING SUSPENSION OF TAXES

WHEREAS, Edmund E. Cote II  as joint titleholders of  a property  located at 1501 S. Royce St.,  Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, and legally described as follows:

Parcel #     884706226009  

Lot Twenty-six (26) Block Sixteen (16) Cheneys 2nd Addition, City of Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa

WHEREAS, Edmund E. Cote II, as joint titleholders of the aforementioned property has petitioned the Board of Supervisors for a suspension of taxes pursuant to the 1999 Iowa Code Section 447.9(3) and,

WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors recognizes from documents provided that the petitioner is unable to provide to the public revenue; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors hereby directs the County Auditor to redeem this property  Parcel  #884706226009 owned by the petitioner from the holder of a certificate of purchase of the amount necessary to redeem under section 447.1, and hereby directs the Woodbury County Treasurer to so record the approval of this tax suspension for this parcel.

Motion by Monson second by Boykin to re-appoint of Ronald Kerr, 23725 100th St., Hornick, IA and Leon Koster, 3407 Pine Crest Ct., Sioux City, IA, to the Veteran Affairs Commission.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Tripp to re-appoint Brad Kollars, 4375 Far Hills Rd., Sioux City, IA, to the Civil Service Commission. Carried 4-0.  Copy filed.

Motion by Boykin second by Monson to approve the appointment of Cindy Bennett, 2501 Apache Drive to the County Conservation Board.  Carried 4-0.  Copy filed

Bid opening was held for the “Breakfast and Lunch Program” for the Juvenile Detention Dept.  The bids were as follows:
      
CMB Food Services   $4.95 per meal
      
Motion by Boykin second by Monson to award the bid to CBM Food Services for $4.95/meal.  Carried 3-1; Tripp opposed.  Copy filed.

The Chairperson asked if there were any individuals or groups wishing to make a presentation of items not on the agenda, or Supervisors concerns.

The Board adjourned the regular meeting until July 3, 2012.
