If you do not agree with the value the assessor has placed on your property, you should call or stop into the office. You can help yourself and your assessor by making sure the information on file is accurate, by locating your property on this website.
The assessor’s office staff should be able to answer your questions about your assessed value and explain how to appeal if you cannot come to an agreement.
The protest period for the Board of Review is April 16th thru May 5. You may appeal your assessment whether or not you received an assessment notice. A notice is sent whenever there is a change in the property value or, as a courtesy, a change in ownership.
Proceed to attachment Petition to Local Board of Review to obtain the form and to view the reasons for protest. (Do not use Reason 6 in an assessment (odd-numbered) year.)
