Sheriff Dave Drew is serving as the 33rd Sheriff of Woodbury County. Sheriff Drew is a life long resident of Woodbury County and resides in Lawton with his beautiful wife Jana of 30 years. They have four children, two grown and living on their own and two still at home. Dave is also a proud grandfather of two, with one on the way. Sheriff Drew is an IHSAA official in football and basketball. He enjoys playing golf when time allows and riding his midnight blue 2013 Harley Davidson Road Glide Ultra.
Sheriff Drew served as a deputy sheriff for 29 1/2 years working in different divisions of the Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Drew was assigned to the patrol division and investigations, where he assisted in the first murder investigation to be handled solely on DNA evidence. Sheriff Drew was the first D.A.R.E. Officer to work in the Sioux City and rural Woodbury County schools. Sheriff Drew worked the newly funded DEA/Tri-State Drug Task Force, a multi-jurisdictional task force that was instrumental in dismantling drug organizations. Sheriff Drew was later appointed Chief Deputy under former Sheriff Dave Amick's administration. Prior to being elected sheriff, Drew worked day patrol. Sheriff Drew has an Associate Degree in Police Science from Western Iowa Tech Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University.
